The 5 Natural Remedies to Reduce Depression program presented by Dr. Brackney will be held next week, Tuesday, February 12 at 7 pm. Sign up online or at the Reference Desk if you're interested.
Join us for a beginner's introduction to the sport of running next Wednesday, January 30th at 7 pm. Lori Guthrie and Patrick Whinnery of Running Fit in Novi will join us for a seminar on Running 101. They'll talk about how to get started, how to schedule your runs into a busy lifestyle, techniques for stretching, and more. The library will be closed Tuesday, January 22 for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. The library will re-open at 9 am on Wednesday.
It's not too late to enter your manga drawing into our contest! The deadline for the Teen Manga Drawing Contest is Tuesday, January 15th. Be sure to bring your 8.5" x 11" manga drawing to the Reference Desk before closing on that day. Only one submission per person please. We'll be displaying the pictures in the teen area and at A to Z Cards & Comics for people to vote on their favorite. Prizes include a $20 gift card to Aji Ten Japanese Restaurant in Canton for the Judges' Choice drawing. The winner of the People's Choice will be the new background to the teen website! Entries will be judged based on creativity, originality, time/effort, technical skill, and overall awesomeness.
According to the IRS, the production of some 2012 major tax products, including the Form 1040 and the Instructions for Form 1040, is impacted by the recent passage of the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012. At this time, there is no estimate as to when the products will become available on IRS.gov or in print.

The Friends of the Westland Library will have their annual election of Officers on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 2:00pm. Please join us for this important meeting and election. We value your input! (You must be a Friends' member to run for office and to vote.)

Join us today for Patron Appreciation Day 11 am - 3 pm. Dr. Brian Brackney and staff of the Brackney Chiropractic Health Centers will be in the lobby of the library to conduct blood pressure testing, saliva screening for toxins, adrenal hormone screening to determine stress level and seat chair massage. Come join us.
The American Red Cross will be at the Library Thursday, December 20 from 10 am-4 pm for a blood drive. To make an appointment log onto www.redcrossblood.org and enter Sponsor code: wplccp or call 800-RED-CROSS. Hurricane Sandy has affected all blood banks so there is a high demand for donors. Everyone who donates in December is eligible to win a $500 VISA gift card from the Red Cross. Individuals 17 or over (16 with permission slip) can donate.
