LEGO® DUPLO® and the Association for Library Services To Children (ALSC) have joined hands to celebrate and support local libraries. The most nominated library in the "Read! Build! Play!" project receives $5,000 for books and supplies. The top 200 libraries receive a special LEGO DUPLO Read! Build! Play! toolkit chock full of cutting edge, early literacy programming that combines preschool books with a versatile collection of DUPLO bricks.

Movies are back!!

The Westland Public Library is happy to announce that we will start showing movies again for the public. Two Saturdays per month, we will host a matinee viewing of a recently-run movie, starting at 1 p.m. The movies will start on Saturday, September 15th. Please see the schedules posted in the library or visit our Events page for more information.

Labor Day Closing

The library will be closed Saturday, September 1 - Monday, September 3 for the Labor Day holiday.  We will re-open Tuesday, September 4 at 10 am.  have a safe and enjoyable holiday!

Donate to Starfish Community Baby Shower

Starfish Family Services is holding a Baby Shower on Aug. 30 for parents in need.  A donation box is in the lobby of the library near the Lost & Found/Book Return area.  Suggested items for donation are listed on the box, but practical items like diapers and wipes are especially needed.

If you're interested in finding out what the television schedule is for Olympic events, look at the TV listings and follow prompts to enter your zip code, cable provider and specific NBC channel. You can find out what events are being shown daily or find out when your favorite event is scheduled to be on.

If you're looking for information about the candidates and proposals on the August 7 ballot, please check the League of Women Voters website http://www.lwvmi.org/. Click on the VOTE411.org box.  Select Michigan in the drop-down menu in the On Your Ballot section. You will need to input your address to get your actual ballot.

Teen Art Contest Deadline Extended!

Teens, the deadline for the Own the Night Art Contest has been extended to August 4. Pick up a Registration form and turn in your art at the reference desk.

Museum Adventure Pass
Museum Adventure pass is back!

Museum Adventure Pass is back and this year it is completely online!  Go to http://eventkeeper.com/pages/tln/ to start your adventure and make sure you select "The Library Network" as your Library Group.  You will use your library card number to check your pass out online and then print it out to take to the available meeting of your choice.
