Plan to serve - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, next Monday

Martin Luther King, Jr. once said “Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?" In memory of Dr. King’s teachings, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service was established in 1994 to challenge Americans to show our respect and compassion for others by turning a work holiday into a day of service. If you are interested in participating, VolunteerMatch.org can help you to find a service project near you. Click here for more information.

Tax forms delayed, but available online

Due to printing delays, public libraries and other institutions will most likely not receive printed tax forms until late January or even early February.  If you'd like to get a jump start on your income taxes, you can download forms from the Michigan State Department of Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service websites.

Kristy Cooper
Employee of the Year 2010

We are happy to announce the library’s Employee of the Year 2010. Kristy Cooper, Reference Librarian, has been recognized by her colleagues for her outstanding contributions toward achieving the mission of the library. Kristy is responsible for building our new web site from scratch, using a new developmental environment, Drupal. The site provides a collaborative setting which encourages more staff communication with the public, online program registration and increases the ease of its use.

In addition to her reference duties, Kristy has a “can do” attitude, helping with all aspects of the library’s operations.  She also facilitates the Science Fiction and Fantasy Book Group, Documentary Movie Night and instructs several computers classes each month. Kristy is also our Adult Volunteer Coordinator. Congratulations Kristy !!
