Thanks to Our Generous Wish List Donors...

One more reason our patrons are the best: they have stepped in to relieve long hold lists with extra copies of in-demand books.  Thanks to these generous donors, the library has received 28 books for the Wish List program!  Our thanks to you, and a note to please contact us (questions@westlandlibrary.org) if you have donated to the Wish List program but have not yet received your free book coupon.

Battle of the Bands: Winners!!!

The library's first annual Battle of the Bands was a roaring success with 3 bands emerging victorious in this all-out musical affair. First place (5 hours studio time) went to the Hyper Lytics, a Green Day cover band. Second place (ProTools software) went to 'Nique LoveRhodes, a hip hop artist with a positive message. Third place (music lessons from Westland Music Center) went to Chris Johnson and Church Boyz Entertainment, a rapping, religious quartet. View photos of the event at our Flickr page.

Big THANKS go out to: Lou Toarmina of Toarmina's Pizza for helping to organize the event (and setting up a pizza and soft drink tent); Tracy Johnson of Johnson's Westland Music Center for setting up and handling the sound all day (and offering great advice throughout); Westland Library teen volunteers and staff for helping make sure everything ran smoothly; and, last but not least, the Friends of the Westland Public Library for funding prizes for this year's event. Thank you everyone! (It was so much fun that we're already planning next year)

Computer Update Scheduled for June 22

On Wednesday, June 22, the library will be having a new server installed.  This means that the circulation and catalog system will be unavailable for staff and patrons.  The process is expected to take at least 4 hours, but may be more.

During this time, we will need to have special guidelines for checking out materials.  There will be a 10-item limit and only Westland residents will be able to check out provided they have their library card and picture identification with them.

You will be able to go on the Internet during this time.

We appreciate your cooperation during this time as we are working to improve our services.
