The Westland Public Library’s five-year strategic plan outlines how the library will respond to evolving community needs, expand access, and strengthen its role as a hub for learning, culture, and connection.
An “All-American City,” Westland, Michigan, combines urban convenience with suburban charm. The Westland Public Library is a vital community asset, providing access to information, technology, and shared experiences in a welcoming, recently renovated space.
The plan was developed through a data-driven and community-centered process beginning in May 2024. Nearly 1,200 residents contributed through surveys, focus groups, interviews, and public engagement activities. Additionally, information was also gathered through:

The strategic plan is supported by a detailed action plan spanning fiscal years 2026-2030. Actions identify timelines, partners, and funding sources, including library funds, local government support, grants, and community partnerships.
