Local Authors

Welcome to the Local Authors Collection at the Westland Public Library. We are proud to showcase the incredible talent of authors from our community.

If you’re a local author who has recently published a book and would like to see it added to our collection, we’re excited to guide you through the process.

Submission Process

  1. Eligibility:
    1. Authors must reside within Wayne County or have a strong connection to our community.
      • The submitted book should be in print and readily available for purchase.
  2. Submission:
    1. To submit your book for consideration, please follow these steps:
    2. Fill out the Local Authors Donation Form (PDF) available at the library or on our website.
    3. Include a copy of your book (hardcover or paperback) along with the submission form.
  3. Review and Selection. Our collection curators will review each submission to ensure it meets our criteria. While we strive to accommodate as many local authors as possible, we retain the right to decline a submission for any reason.
  4. Notification. You will be notified by email or phone regarding the status of your submission. If your book has been selected for inclusion in our Local Authors Collection, we will provide an additional update on when it is added to the collection.
  5. Cataloging and Display. Once accepted, your book will undergo cataloging to ensure easy access for our patrons. It will be added to our Local Authors Collection, allowing visitors to discover and enjoy your work.
  6. Promotion. We actively promote the Local Authors Collection through various channels, including our website, social media, and physical displays in the library. We encourage authors to spread the word among their networks as well.

Please note:

  • The Local Authors Collection is meant for authors who have published their work through established publishing channels.
  • Self-published authors are welcome to submit their work, provided it meets our selection criteria.
