Submissions for the 2025 edition of Westland Writes will be accepted from April 1 to April 30, 2025. See our Submission Guidelines below for more information.

Submission Guidelines

Before submitting, please review the following guidelines:

1. Eligibility: All authors submitting to Westland Writes must be 18 years of age or older.
2. Residency: Authors must be residents of Westland or a neighboring city to be eligible for submission. We aim to showcase the literary talent of our local community.
3. Submission Limit: To ensure a diverse range of voices, we accept only one submission per author. Multiple submissions from the same author will not be considered.
4. Genres: We welcome both poetry and short fiction submissions.
5. Submission Format:
   1. Poetry: Submit up to 2 poems, with a maximum of 200 lines total.
   2. Short Fiction: Submit one short story or chapter of a larger work, with a maximum word count of 2,500 words.
6. Formatting: Please use a standard font (Times New Roman, 12 pt), and submit your work as a Microsoft Word document or a PDF.
7. Submission Deadline: Submissions for the upcoming collection are open from April 1 to April 30. Any submissions received after the closing date will not be considered.
8. Review Process: All submissions will be reviewed by our editorial team. While we strive to give every submission thoughtful consideration, the editor retains the right to decline a submission for any reason.
9. How to Submit: Fill out our online submission form and upload your file. Unsolicited emails, paper copies, and other forms of submission will not be accepted.
10. Notification: Authors whose work has been selected for inclusion in Westland Writes will be notified by email by May 30.
