Interlibrary Loan

Westland Public Library cardholders looking for materials our library doesn’t own may request items from other libraries using the Michigan eLibrary Catalog (MeLCat). Interlibrary loan is not available for digital items (such as those found in Libby, Hoopla or Kanopy).

Accessing Materials at Nearby Libraries

In person

You may use your Westland library card to check out materials in person at any nearby library—just bring your library card and ID to your first visit! Your Westland library card provides reciprocal borrowing privileges at libraries within The Library Network (TLN) or the MILibraryCard network.

Via the TLN Shared System Catalog

While our library is not part of the TLN Shared System Catalog, Westland library cardholders may use this system by visiting nearby libraries. The TLN Shared System Catalog provides interlibrary loan to library card users at each participating library including: Belleville, Dearborn Heights, Garden City, Inkster, Livonia, Redford Township, Romulus, Taylor and Wayne. Registering your card at any library in the TLN Shared System allows you to request books from many libraries throughout Southeast Michigan to be delivered to your preferred library location within the system.
