Veterans Memorial Garden of Westland

The Veterans Memorial Garden of Westland, located behind the library, was established to honor America’s veterans. The central monument consists of ten granite panels noting twelve wars throughout American history. The Walk of History features memorials explaining the history of each of these wars, with one dedicated to prisoners of war and soldiers missing in action.

The Memorial Garden was dedicated in a ceremony on Veterans Day of 2013. The result of more than six years of planning and fundraising by the Westland Veterans Association, the project was spearheaded by the late Ken Mehl, former president of the Veterans Association and himself a Vietnam veteran.
